Holy Baby Batman – we’re back with another fun themed party! This time, a baby shower. My brother and sister-in-law are expecting their first child this spring and they planned on having a superhero nursery. I thought giving the baby shower the same theme would not only be fun and adorable, but it would also be an opportunity to help decorate the nursery with some decor from the shower.
I wanted the overall superhero theme to have a child-like twist and be suitable for a baby shower and the mommy-to-be, so incorporating the word “POP” into the theme was a must. My first step in the process began with finding graphics that would add the right amount of cuteness into the theme. I ended up purchasing an adorable graphics set from the Creative Market S-Viktoria shop that was full of fun animals, the alphabet and cool patterns – perfect for a baby shower! I mean animals wearing masks and capes – it doesn’t get much sweeter than that. We were then able to come up with a look and feel for the whole shower and of course we used our good friend Pinterest for some extra inspiration.

There were a few key pieces I wanted to create for the shower, one of them being mason jar centerpieces. I had two design ideas in mind for the centerpieces so after I painted the inside of the jars metallic blue, I created half of them with a “Super G” shield design and the other half a nighttime cityscape design. The decorated mason jars were filled with cutouts of superhero animals, fun phrases, pom poms on sticks and filled with blue crinkle paper to keep everything in place. What really elevated the look though were the most adorable pom pom superhero bears that Maghan crafted. With their little masks and ribbon capes, they were definitely the focal point to the jars.

Another key piece to the decorations was a The Gotham Times newsprint-inspired art piece that could also be a keepsake for their family. I designed this to include some information and pictures taken during their journey as well as a letter my sister-in-law wrote to her son.

Other decorations included a toy-block building with an adorable Robin (Batman’s sidekick) teddy bear, a very large bear container of animal crackers outfitted in superhero attire, building buckets filled with gourmet popcorn, a large skyscraper cupcake tower filled with blue-frosted cupcakes topped with a variety of fun toppers and of course a cityscape backdrop.

We of course wanted our guests to go home with some goodies! At each place setting there was a favor bag filled with an animal-themed trail mix, a superhero lollipop and the always fun blue “HE” Hershey’s bars! This was definitely a delight for the younger guests at the shower.
Happy Party Planning, Friends!
